Spring 2025 Fishing Report

New Orleans fishing this Spring 2025 has been incredible. A steady trout bite through March, April, and May has made catching limits almost a daily routine. Redfish have been hitting the cleaning table as well. We’re catching plenty of redfish, but having to weed through slightly undersized fish. The days when we venture out a little further, the giant bull reds are making an appearance which is great to see. Sheephead are starting to filter back into the area from their spawning grounds. We’ve already started the transition from fishing Lake Pontchartrain to fishing Lake Borgne, and in a few weeks, we’ll be running to the outer bays and islands of the Biloxi Marsh for trout and the BIG redfish. I absolutely love fishing the “outside” as we call it because it is a totally different environment than what we fish near the dock. With islands scattered across shallow bays, you’re typically fishing without another boat in sight and can see sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, a wide range of birds, and have the opportunity to catch a mackerel, triple tail, or pompano.

Plenty of dates still available for the summer time. Fall is about halfway booked up. Victory Bay Charters has been in business for almost 8 years now, and a glimpse through previous social media posts and the picture gallery will show hundreds of big catches and big smiles! If you have any questions or concerns about a trip, please don’t hesitate to text or call me.

See you on the water,

Captain Drake Morvant
