December was very good, when we were able to get out. Between taking delivery of the new 2023 Bluewave 2400 Purebay and the frequent rain days, we didn’t run too many trips. However, the days we did go found us filling the cleaning tables to the max with fish. Conditions were right for Redfish in the marsh, so while other boats were spending time and gas looking for scattered trout in the waters around New Orleans, we enjoyed easy catching of redfish and sheephead. Far from the crowds, too. If we did hunt for speckled trout specifically, it was only Tues through Thursday, due to the decrease in boat traffic during the work week. With warmer temps forecasted again for January, fishing should be okay through the month. The recent cold blast should have pushed more fish into the deeper man made canals. These canals will be the primary spots to work as long as cold fronts continue to pass through.
